Spay Today Spay Neuter Clinic is seeking a licensed Relief Veterinarian for our Greenville, NC practice. The preferred candidate will be responsible for providing high quality-high volume spay and neuter services for dogs and cats. We are seeking someone who is upbeat, self-motivated and passionate about animals and the importance of spay/neuter.
We offer competitive pay and salary is commensurate with experience. We are open four days per week (Monday – Thursday). Limited after hours call also required. The surgeon will be expected to perform an average of 25 to 32 surgeries each day. Ability to multi-task, flourish in a fast-paced environment, and work well in a positive leadership role with staff important. Experience in spay/neuter surgery required. Experience with general soft tissue surgery and managing medical cases preferred.
Our clinic is next to the Pitt County Animal Shelter and assists the shelter with some of their veterinary needs. Interest in shelter medicine will be a plus for applicants.
Spay Today is dedicated to reducing pet overpopulation through high quality low cost spay/neuter services. We focus on helping rescue groups, shelters and those who cannot afford regular veterinary care for their pets. To date, Spay Today has completed over 44,000 surgeries since opening in May of 2006. • Must have a degree of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from an accredited university and be licensed in the state of North Carolina
• Ability to complete a minimum of 32 high quality spay or neuter surgeries per day in an efficient and safe manner.
•. Experience preferred with early S/N,TNR, in-heat females, pregnancies, cryptorchid males.
• Ability to lift and stand for long periods of time.
• Excellent communication, organizational and problem-solving skills required.
• Ability to work with others in a variety of high stress situations, setting a positive example for other team members
• Previous high volume spay and neuter experience.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Examine animals pre-operatively to determine the health of the animals and their ability to undergo surgery.
• Verify the information on the record is complete and all medically relevant notes are included.
• Adhere to the medical standards set by the clinic and follow the established drug protocols.
• Perform high volume, high quality spay and neuter surgeries with minimal complications.
• Maintain the strictest level of sterility during all surgeries.
• Supervise veterinary care team during the surgical day. Help create a safe, supportive and positive environment.
• Supervise the handling of controlled substances by the technical staff.
• Examine animals post-operatively to ensure a safe and appropriate recovery.
• Perform post-operative recheck exams and any necessary treatments.
• Be respectful of and professional when dealing with all coworkers.
• Help ensure a positive public relationship, quality customer service and an overall positive attitude towards spaying and neutering.
• Other duties as requested.

Physical Demands/ Working Environment but not limited to:
• Extended periods of standing and walking. May need to bend, kneel or lift animals.
• May be exposed to potential communicable diseases, such as ringworm, rabies etc. As well as the risk of being bitten by a domestic animal.
• Noise level is moderate to high.
• Exposure to animal hair.
• Includes working in an indoor surgical environment handling animals.
• Applicant should be free of allergies, back problems, or anything that would prohibit you from standing for surgery for up to 8 hours
